  • The EPON standard is one of the many TDM-PON standards. It has the basic characteristics of the
    TDM-PON network: the tree topology network consists of three parts: the OLT, the ONU, and the ODN (Optical Distribution Network).

  • On the logical topology, the EPON protocol establishes a logical link for the OLT to each ONU. The leading byte of the Ethernet data frame carries the logical link identifier, that is, LLID (Logical Link Identity).
